My name is Terri Traeger

I am the founder of Sprouts Preschool in Middletown, RI. I was born and raised in Middletown and have lived and raised my family here with my husband, Loren, of over 30 years. I am the mom of 4 and Mimi to 4 grandchildren.
I was born to nurture. After 16 years teaching at Emmanuel Day School and 2 years as a teaching assistant in kindergarten and first grade at Aquidneck School, I realized that I wanted to pursue the dream of mine to open my own preschool. Much love and labor went into transforming a part of our home into a one room schoolhouse and Sprouts officially opened in 2022. I strive to provide a program which encourages the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, creative and language development of each child that attends Sprouts.

Children are only little for a short time! Your child’s day at Sprouts will be filled with play, teachable moments, academic enrichment and, most importantly, FUN!
Preschool Program
Sprouts Preschool is a play-based learning environment for kids ages 3-5. At Sprouts the love of learning is cultivated through curiosity and playful discovery. Imagination and creativity reign on high. And all of this is incorporated with the joy of being a part of a small group, close knit family setting!
Curriculum
Sprout's curriculum creates a child centered play-based learning environment which empowers young children to actively pursue their own learning. This process provides appropriate, timely, balanced intervention, as well as support, continuity, and progression which encourages positive attitudes towards learning. The Sprout's curriculum is aligned with the RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS).

There are many choices and aspects to consider when choosing preschool and childcare. Each child deserves learning experiences that excite the imagination, inspires creativity and instills a lifelong thirst for learning. Every child deserves acceptance, respect and positive opportunities to flourish in his or her environment. As a home-based preschool, Sprouts provides a warm and welcoming, safe and supportive environment to encourage your child’s growth and journey with others.
The Benefits of Home Based Care
Individualized : Small groups allow for individualized attention. The curriculum is curated to meet the specialized needs of each child. Due to the small class size, I have the opportunity to really get to know your child and develop a strong bond, trust, and comfort that comes with home-based care.
​​Engaging: The opportunity for individualized attention gives the ability to craft engaging and authentic activities that inspire play and learning. At Sprouts kids interact within a diverse range of ages providing plenty of opportunity to learn and develop unique friendships. In addition, your child will have the opportunity to develop close relationships with his or her fellow students and this truly creates a home away from home feel.
Flexible: While I encourage the importance of routine, I also understand that different families have different needs. When possible, I will work with you and your family to accommodate your schedule, including the occasional additional day, switching days, and picking days of attendance.
Family Centered: I know how important family and community are to our children. Family engagement and participation are fostered at Sprouts. Parents receive photos and updates and I host multiple school events including an open house social, Thanksgiving lunch, Christmas performance and gathering, and annual art show.
